How to perform the Dlink AC1750 Firmware Upgrade?
A user can upgrade the Firmware of a D-link AC1750 either manually or directly through the web interface of the dlinkrouter.local window. You can automatically check for the firmware available for your router using the Check Firmware option. Whenever a new firmware is available it will notify you and you can directly update it through the upgrade option. Manual update of firmware is risky as the wrong firmware may get downloaded in the router that may void the warranty and may permanently damage your router.
Steps to perform the D-link AC1750 Firmware upgrade
- First, you need to visit the support.dlink.ca website to download the latest firmware for the router.
- Make sure to extract the file using Winzip or WinRar if it has been downloaded in a .zip format.
- Note: Some firmware update removes all the current configuration settings from the router. If this happens during an update, reconfigure it using the dlinkrouter.local window.
- Launch a web browser and type dlinkrouter.local on the address bar of the browser.
- You can also type the LAN IP address as the URL of the browser, The default IP address of the Dlink router is 192.168.1.1
- Hit enter and the default dlinkrouter.local login appears on the screen.
- Type “admin” on the username tab and enter the admin password you used previously during the login process.
- If you haven’t changed the default admin password, leave the password field blank
- When you are done, click on the login button.
- You will be redirected to the default dlinkrouter.local screen.
- From the main web menu Dashboard, click on the Management tab then click on the Upgrade tab.
- Now, if you want to update the firmware automatically click on the “Check for New firmware” option
- If a new firmware is available, the dlinkrouter.local window will prompt you to the remaining step to update the firmware.
- Click on the update button and the upgrade process will begin.
- Now, if you want to update the firmware manually, click on the Select File option beside the Upgrade Firmware option.
- Navigate the cursor to the location where you have kept the downloaded firmware file.
- Select the file and click on the Upload button to start the process.
- The firmware begins to upgrade, which may take a while.
- Avoid any action in the router or do not power off the device until the update process gets completed.
- Any interruption during the update process may lead to the failure of the Firmware upgrade of the Dlink router.
- When the update process gets completed, the router automatically reboots.
Note: If a user has created a backup of the configuration settings, he has to restore it using the restoration process. The restore process will save a user from reconfiguring the router and will save your time and effort. You can perform the restoration process through the System tab of the dlinkrouter.local web management interface.
