How to update the dlink firmware automatically

Firmware updates can be automatically done through the web interface of a Dlink router. You can directly download it through the Firmware version tab for better performance of the Wifi. New firmware upgrades the current features of a router and removes the bugs from your device.

Steps to update the firmware of a Dlink router through the web interface

  1. Turn on the computer or laptop connected to the Wifi network of a Dlink router.
  2. Launch a browser and type 192.168.0.1 or dlinkrouter.local in the address bar of the browser.
  3. Hit enter and the default management screen of a Dlink router login window appears on the screen.
  4. Now you need to enter the login credentials in their respective tabs.
  5. Type “admin” in the username tab as a default credential and type the assigned login password in the password field.
  6. If you haven’t changed the default password, keep the password field blank.
  7. When you are done typing the credentials in their respective fields, press the login button.
  8. The main web menu Dashboard of the dlinkrouter.local appears on the screen.
  9. From the main navigation panel, go to the management tab then click the Upgrade tab.
  10. As soon as you click the Upgrade tab, the Upgrade window appears on the screen.
  11. Scroll down the upgrade page and look for the “Check for New Firmware” tab.
  12. Click the “Check for New Firmware” tab to check for an available firmware version.
  13. Your router automatically detects a new firmware upgrade for the device but needs your authority for the download process.
  14. The interface starts to check for a new firmware version for your router.
  15. If a firmware version is available for your device, a notification will pop up on your screen to prompt you to download that firmware file.
  16. Click Upgrade to start the installation of a new firmware in the router.
  17. Wait for the process to finish and make sure not to interrupt the installation process.
  18. Do not power off, click any icon or close the current window in your computer that may bring failure in upgrading the firmware of your router

Note: Users are mostly recommended to directly download the firmware through the dlinkrotuer.net interface as it is convenient and less risky. An incorrect firmware may corrupt the device and may degrade the output level of your router.
